Question by Tom H: Automobile Employ in London with DEBIT CARD! Aid!!!?
Hello, guys. I live in London at the moment and I'm 23 years old. Subsequent month(Sept,.) I have a strategy to employ automobile for a couple of days..but I feel I am in difficulty.
I only have a Debit Card from Lloyds and of course it says "VISA" in the side of the card.
But I heard that with out any Credit Card, no 1 can employ any auto in London.. is that accurate?
Now I'm so so despressed as I've planned to go someplace with my GF a couple of months ago. That's why I've saved money for the final months but....what should I do?
With out any Credit Card, no automobile organization lends me any car?
Please....help me..TT

the cause why
is if you harm the automobile, the firm can not claim back the income for damages.. so no one particular would employ you a auto..
maybe you can arrange it where u give them a surcharge and return it when the auto is returned.. but i doubt they would do that.

pretty sure there are companies out there, i flew back to the UK a few months ago with just a debit card and managed to get one.
1car1 were the people i used, good rates too.

could you not go to the car hire place itself and pay cash, you could do this the week before to show that you are serious about hiring.xx
The problem is that with a debit card if you anticipated any extra charges eg for damage, you could empty your bank account so that the rental company couldn't charge you directly. With a credit card they can reserve a large amount of credit when you take the car and only release this when you return it in ok condition. You might get away with offering a substantial deposit, but at 23 you may have difficulties.
